NEW YORK CITY, NY — Terrible April weather continues to reign this weekend in NYC, with up to 2 inches of snow on the forecast for Saturday.

A 90 percent chance of precipitation Saturday, amid temps in the upper 30s and low 40s, will likely mean a nasty of rain and snow all day and into the evening, according to the NWS.

By Saturday evening, though, the air temperature is expected to drop below 30 — meaning some of the snow could stick.

"The air will be cold enough to allow showers to occur as a mix of rain, ice and snow in some areas and mostly snow in others," AccuWeather meteorologist Alex Sosnowski reported Thursday.

The biggest chance for snow to build up in NYC will be on Saturday night, as temperatures dip into the 20s.

The NWS has issued a "freeze watch" from midnight Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday.

And snow accumulation maps updated Friday afternoon show a probable buildup of less than one 1 inch, and a maximum buildup of 2 inches, from 8 a.m. Saturday through 2 a.m. Sunday.

After the snow hits, we're looking at some sun and upper-40s temps again by Sunday afternoon, so hold tight. It's almost May. Right?

It continues to be unseasonably cold to begin this month. But there are some signs that warmer days lie ahead. The Climate Prediction Center has updated their 8-14 day outlook. Take a look!
