Sag Harbor Elementary School Kicks Off Swim Program For Students

The fifth graders learned how to swim at the East Hampton YMCA Rec Center.

Sag Harbor Elementary recently kicked off its three-week swim program for their students.

Now in its 11th year, the swim program provides swim instruction for all first through fifth graders at the East Hampton YMCA Rec Center during the school day.

During each one-hour swim session, students are evaluated and taught swimming skills by trained swim instructors.

Students are also introduced to the benefits and sport of swimming, as well as the YMCA’s swim team, the Hurricanes.

“It is our hope that all students will leave school in fifth grade with a level of swimming ability that will ensure their safety in and around the ocean, bays, and books that surround our village,” Coach Sean Crowley said.
