UNIONDALE, NY — Former First Lady Michelle Obama will participate in a moderated question-and-answer session this spring on Long Island. The conversation will be held Friday, May 1, at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. A moderator has not been announced for the event, which begins at 8 p.m.

Tickets go on sale Monday, March 2 at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com and venue pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase Friday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. VIP Tickets that include a photo opportunity with Michelle Obama will also be available. For more information, visit ticketmaster.com.

Michelle Obama served as First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017. During that time, she launched and led four initiatives: Let’s Move!, to address the challenge of childhood obesity; Joining Forces, to support veterans, service members and their families; Reach Higher, to inspire young people to seek higher education; and Let Girls Learn, to help adolescent girls around the world go to school.

Before becoming First Lady, she attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School. She started her career as an attorney at the Chicago law firm, Sidley & Austin, where she met her future husband, Barack Obama. She later worked in the Chicago mayor’s office, the University of Chicago, and the University of Chicago Medical Center.
