Maryland Man Charged Onto Cricket World Cup Field On Long Island: PD

The man jumped over the fence, entered the playing field without permission and ran toward the players, police say.

EAST MEADOW, NY — A Maryland man was arrested after Nassau police said he entered the Cricket World Cup field without permission at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow on Saturday.

Ashwin Godker, 31, of Gaithersburg, jumped a fence and entered the field around 1 p.m., police said. Godker continued to run out onto the field towards the players, and Nassau police arrested him without incident, police said. No injuries were reported, the department said.

Godker was charged with third-degree criminal trespass. He was set to be arraigned on Sunday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
