Artist Yvonne Shortt Paints a Schoolyard

Over 100 students help paint incorporating math, mood boards, and more

Artists Yvonne Shortt, Rebecca West, and Joel Esquite of RPGA Studio, based in Forest Hills, painted 11 walls with 3rd-5th graders turning their school playground into something special. “We were supposed to paint one wall but when we got to the site we knew it needed more,” says Shortt.

The studio spent 2 weeks working with students to create and paint the design. The design incorporates the creativity of the students and the community with many parents helping also.
