BROOKLYN, NY — The so-called "hottest vegan concept in the country" is coming to Brooklyn this September, according to a recent announcement.

After months of anticipation, Slutty Vegan, known for its cheekily-named meatless burgers, will open its first New York City outpost in Fort Greene on Sept. 17, Pinky Cole, the eatery's CEO and founder, announced Thursday on Good Morning America.

While the spot at 690 Fulton Street is Slutty Vegan's first outside of Georgia — where it currently has a handful of storefronts and a food truck — the outpost is still a sort of "homecoming," Cole said.

"I had a restaurant here, lost it to a grease fire, went completely flat broke so this is a really big homecoming for me," she said on the ABC talk show, alluding to her first-ever restaurant in Harlem, which was forced to close in 2016 after a fire.

Two years later, though, Cole started Slutty Vegan out of her apartment, managing vegan burger orders over Instagram, and by 2018 she opened her first brick-and-mortar store, which quickly became a hit.

Now the vegan-burger-empire is beloved by celebrities and regularly has out-the-door lines of people ordering burgers like the "One Night Stand" (a patty topped with vegan bacon and cheese, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and the eatery's "Slut Sauce"), the "Fussy Hussy" (with pickles), or the "Sloppy Toppy" (with jalapeños).

Cole has also become well known for her charitable endeavors and for empowering Black entrepreneurs, especially in the veganism space.

Slutty Vegan's soon-to-open Fort Greene outpost is also a full-circle moment for the neighborhood, since its storefront on the corner of Fulton Street and South Portland Avenue will replace another vegan eatery, the Broccoli Bar, which closed in February after a two-year run.
