HARLEM, NY — A man shot and wounded two people before turning the gun on himself inside an East Harlem NYCHA development Thursday, police said.

The still-unidentified shooter opened fire just after 12:30 p.m. at the Johnson Houses NYCHA development on E. 112th St. near Lexington Avenue, police said.

The 45-year-old gunman shot a 40-year-old woman in the thigh and back of the ear and a 19-year-old man in the torso and arm before turning the gun on himself, according to authorities.

Medics swiftly took the three individuals to a nearby hospital, where, as of Friday morning, the 19-year-old and 40-year-old were reported to be in stable condition. However, the 45-year-old shooter remains in critical condition, police said.

The shooting is suspected to be a domestic incident, although an NYPD spokesperson was unable to confirm the exact relationship between the three individuals. However, it was clarified that the shooter did not reside with the two victims.
