Annual Dad And Daughter Dance Set For Harlem: What To Know

The yearly dance to celebrate Black fathers and their daughters will take place in February at the Alhambra Ballroom in Harlem.

HARLEM, NY — The 11th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance will take place in Harlem later this February.

The dance will take place on Feb. 18 at the Alhambra Ballroom on 2116 Adam Clayton Powell Junior Boulevard, and look to "celebrate Black fathers and the love of their daughters."

The theme this year will be "Under The Sea," in honor of the "Little Mermaid" live action film that will star a Black actress as Ariel for the first time.

There will be a DJ, dinner and refreshments, gifts, prizes, a photo booths, photographers, a dance contest, and surprise celebrity guests.

Tickets to the event, which include everything mentioned above, are $150 per dad and daughter duo, with $50 for every additional daughter.

The dance is organized by the nonprofit the Real Dad Network, which has put together a variety of father and daughter events over the years.

The nonprofit was founded in 2004 by Derek Phillips and aims to "create a culture where all fathers are actively involved in the parenting process, and are portrayed and viewed as exemplary role models by society."
