HARLEM, NY - Looking for festive family fun without leaving Harlem?

Enter the Shine On Harlem Challenge, which encourages Harlem-dwellers to visit over a dozen local businesses and explore interactive musical trees with synchronized lights and music along 125th Street.

Presented by the 125th Street Business Improvement District, the Shine On Harlem Challenge allows participants to check-in at visited spots, add “vibes” and tips in the Vibemap app and share locations with friends. “Challenge Points” users can earn will increase their chances of winning prizes such as gift cards to local businesses, nights out, cash and hotel stays.

The musical trees span an array of genres from Harmony Grove: The Gospel Tree to The Rap Arbor: Where Beats Meet Leaves.

The challenge began Nov. 14 and will last through March 2024, business improvement district reps said.

Participating businesses include Red Rooster Harlem, Harlem Cycle, Carter’s and the Renaissance New York Hotel.
