EAST HARLEM, NY — There is a slight COVID-19 uptick going on across New York City, including in East Harlem.

Citywide, hospitalizations from the virus were up more than 10 percent last week, which is the largest increase seen since December 2022, reported CBS News.

When it comes down to the neighborhood with the most new cases per 100,000 people in the last recorded seven days, East Harlem leads the way with 46, data shows.

Here's a breakdown of the top 10 neighborhoods with most new cases per 100,000 people over the last recorded week.

  • Northeast Bronx: 46
  • East Harlem: 46
  • Pelham - Throgs Neck: 40
  • Ridgewood - Forest Hill: 40
  • Bayside - Little Neck: 39
  • Union Square - Lower East Side: 37
  • Jamaica: 37
  • Canarsie - Flatlands: 36
  • High Bridge - Morriasania: 36
  • Long Island City - Astoria: 36

The city no longer provides COVID-19 percent positivity by ZIP code, as labs were no longer required to report negative results once the federal health emergency for the virus was called off.

While there was a slight jump citywide in the number of new COVID cases citywide starting around July 10, it appears that those numbers are already falling.

Elsewhere in the neighborhood, Central Harlem and Morningside Heights saw 32 new COVID cases per 100,000 people over the last recorded week, data shows.
