HARLEM, NY — A 12-year-old girl was raped inside an East Harlem NYCHA building, police said Monday.

The accused rapists remain on the loose as of Tuesday, as NYPD officials sought the public's help to track them down, authorities said.

Police said the two young men attacked the girl shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday in a building at the Jefferson Houses near East 112th St. and First Avenue.

It is currently believed that the victim did not know her attackers.

Following the assault, the two men fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to police.

The child was taken to an area hospital after the attack and is recovering in stable condition, according to cops.

On Monday, police released photos of the two suspects, asking anyone with information to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish speakers, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
