EAST HARLEM, NY — A young man was stabbed to death early Sunday morning following a disagreement with a fellow resident outside the East Harlem migrant shelter where they both lived, police said.

Argeyeris Martinez, 29, got into a verbal argument with Oscar Gonzalez, 30, when he was stabbed in the chest near Third Ave. and E. 97th St. at about 4 a.m., cops said.

Medics rushed Martinez to Mount Sinai Morningside, where doctors pronounced him deceased, officials said.

Following the grizzly attack, Gonzalez was taken into custody and charged with murder and aggravated criminal possession of a weapon.

An NYPD spokesperson said that the attack is still under investigation as of Tuesday morning.

The slaying occurred at a 506-unit building on Third Avenue and 97th Street, formerly used to accommodate students from CUNY's Hunter and Baruch colleges but now home to around 500 migrant families.

A spokesperson from CUNY previously said that about 99 students lived there per semester and that the last students moved out in May 2022, shortly after they announced the building would no longer house CUNY students.
