HARLEM, NY — In a major bit of Harlem commercial business news, Sephora and Pandora will be opening in the same building also slated to house an incoming Trader Joe's and Target on 125th Street, developers announced on Monday.

Sephora, the massive personal care and beauty retailer, and the jewelry retailer Pandora, will be opening at 121 W. 125th St., between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. and Malcom X boulevards, in the winter of 2023.

Both of the new businesses will move into the ground floor.

“We are thrilled to continue to add exciting new tenants to 121 W 125th,” said S. Andrew Katz, co-founder and Principal of The Prusik Group," which is part the joint venture overseeing the new commercial building. “Sephora and Pandora will offer high end retail shopping experiences for the surrounding bustling community, further cementing the building and neighborhood as a retail destination.”

It will be Sephora's 16th store in New York City, while it will be Pandora's 3rd location in the five boroughs.

Target and Trader Joe's are both expected to fully move into their respective, 44,000 square-foot-space and 28,000 square-foot-space, in August.

The massive new building, also expected to open this summer, includes 85,000 square-feet of office space, a 7,500 square-foot private terrace, and 11-stories of 170 apartments.

The building will additionally serve as headquarters to the National Urban League and Urban Civil Rights Museum.

Construction on the building began in the summer of 2022, with the sidewalk shed coming down in recent months.

The building is designed by Beyer Blinder Belle, with developers including the Prusik Group, BRP Companies, L+M Development Partners, Goldman Sachs Urban Investment Group, and Taconic Partners.

The four retail openings will go toward solving the vacant storefront blight currently on 125th Street.

In May, Patch found 55 storefronts standing empty on 125th Street between Broadway and Third Avenue — an increase of 13 vacancies from when we counted 42 on the same stretch in October 2020.
