Uptown Night Market Prepares For Harlem Return: What To Know

HARLEM, NY — The popular Uptown Night Market is returning to Harlem next Thursday following a successful opening event in the neighborhood last month.

The expansive open-air market, recognized as one of New York City's premier food and cultural event, will once more grace the space beneath the Arches on 12th Avenue, a stone's throw from 133rd Street.

Once again, the market promises a seven-month-long tribute to Harlem's rich culinary and cultural heritage, with festivities held every second Thursday of the month from April to October, starting at 4 p.m. and running until 10 p.m.

"By spotlighting local artisans, chefs, and entrepreneurs, the market not only celebrates the unique cultural flavors of Harlem but also contributes to the economic vitality of the area," event organizers said. "This communal gathering place becomes a shared space where residents and visitors converge, fostering a sense of community pride and togetherness."

RSVPing is recommended in order to participate in exclusive raffles and giveaways, but no ticket is required to enter the market.

Adding to the excitement for 2024, is a resident house band to provide a soundtrack to pump each second Thursday with musical treats to accompany the delicious food and vibes.

In collaboration with Harlem Late Night Jazz, attendees can expect a blend of R&B, blues, funk, afrobeats and Latin rhythms reverberating throughout the Arches.

According to MASC Hospitality, over 15,000 people attend Uptown Night Market each month last year, with over 110,000 people attending total and over 300 food vendors.

The events are produced in partnership with the West Harlem Development Corporation and in collaboration with CB9 Manhattan, Harlem Pride and Harlem Week.
