DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN, NY — The only Brooklyn location of the famed hot dog spot Papaya King closed last week after two years in the borough, Grub Street reported.

Papaya King shuttered their 6 Flatbush Ave. Extension storefront but keep on selling their grilled hot dogs from their Upper East Side location while working on national distribution of their food and drinks, owner Wayne Rosenbaum told Grub Street.

Papaya King has been a New York City mainstay for nearly 86 years from their Upper East Side spot and became known for their affordable frankfurter and tropical drinks.

They eventually opened several locations around the city and expanded outside of Manhattan with a Downtown Brooklyn spot in 2016.
