HUNTINGTON, NY — All month, Patch is asking readers to share who they're grateful for. Centerport's Lisa Campo thanked her parents, from Huntington, for the love they have offered.

Here's the message she shared:

"I am grateful for the unwavering love and strength my parents have had and still have for their six children and fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson. They have taught us all the true meaning of family, loyalty and love."

Living with gratitude goes beyond merely being thankful. It doesn't mean pretending bad things don't happen, but rather savoring the goodness, according to experts on the topic, including Robert Emmons, a Unviersity of California, Davis, psychology professor who is known as the "father of gratitude."

Patch will continue publishing stories like this one for "30 Days Of Gratitude," a series to remind us of the goodness and joy in our lives. We want to share the gratitude as widely as we can, and invite you to fill out the form below to show thanks for someone in your life.
