ISLAND PARK, NY – A Babylon woman was taken into custody after police said she stole lottery tickets from a gas station where she worked.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, an investigator for New York State Lottery found that revenue from the sale of lottery tickets at Liberty Gas Station, at 4305 Austin Blvd. in Island Park, had risen dramatically. The investigator found that the station typically generated between $1,000 and $2,000 in daily ticket sales, but that those sales had exceeded $35,000, according to the investigator.

Nassau County police detectives notified the owner of the station about the issue of lottery ticket sales. Following an investigation, detectives determined that an employee, Ana Pachucho, 50, of Babylon, was printing tickets.

Pachucho was arrested and charged with third-degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. She was scheduled for arraignment at the First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 24.
