The impacts of Hurricane Henri are expected in our area late this evening and throughout tomorrow. The National Weather Service is predicting Tropical Storm force winds, 2 to 5 inches of rain, and a storm surge of 2 to 4 feet.

City crews are making their final preparations and you should be too. Now is the time to get ready, not when we are already feeling the impacts of the storm.

A sandbag filling station will be available from 1pm until sundown today at the Laurelton lot along Broadway. A maximum of 6 bags are available per household while supplies last, but residents are welcome to bring their own as well.

Due to strong rip currents associated with the storm, swimming at the beach is prohibited until further notice.

At present, we do not anticipate emergency evacuation orders being issued, but if you find yourself in an emergency situation, dial 911.

To report a power outage to PSEG, text OUT to 773454.

The City will be posting updates on its website www.longbeachny.gov and social media platforms as they become available and will follow up with additional emergency notifications if warranted.
