Drivers Anticipate Loop Parkway Full Shutdown Sunday Night

LIDO BEACH, NY — The Loop Parkway will undergo a full shutdown from the Meadowbrook Parkway to Lido Boulevard on Sunday night.

Drivers should be alerted that the closure will last until 5 a.m., the state Department of Transportation said.

Maintenance work is being done to the drawbridge over Long Creek.

A detour from Long Beach barrier island to Long Island's mainland is via Long Beach Bridge. Signs will direct drivers on the route.

Fines are doubled for speeding in work zones.

The construction is subject to be cancelled or postponed depending upon the weather.
