ISLAND PARK, NY — King Kullen recalled 18 packages of ground beef sold at its Island Park supermarket because of "foreign particles," the supermarket said on its website.

The meat was the King Kullen brand of 80 percent lean ground beef. It was sold between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday at the Austin Boulevard location.

Other packages that were not sold "were immediately removed from the shelves as soon as we became aware of the situation," King Kullen said.
