Rebecca Sheehan has raised two young adult children with her husband Carlos DeMolina and fondly recalls her time as a Daisy mom for her daughter Leyla and her own experience as a Girl Scout in the early 1970s. Rebecca has spent more than 21 years as an attorney in government service at the city, county, and state levels. A graduate of the City University of New York School of Law, Rebecca has dedicated herself to the law school’s motto of “Law in the Service of Human Needs.” Early in her career, she focused on defending the rights of employees in both the public and private sectors in employment discrimination practice; she also volunteered her time engaging in pro bono cases involving the federal Violence Against Women Act and local Family Court practice. Subsequent to her time as a litigator, she began her career in public service as Legislative Counsel in the New York City Council and later served as Chief of Staff and Counsel in the New York State Senate. She recently served as Deputy Bureau Chief in Municipal Law for the Suffolk County Attorney’s office and State and Federal Affairs, Special Counsel for former Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone
