ISLAND PARK, NY — Republican Anthony D'Esposito is getting a legislative upgrade. The Town of Hempstead councilman was elected to Congress from the 4th District, held by the Democrat Kathleen Rice. It's one of the Long Island congressional seats that flipped to red.

"It's an exciting time. What's even nicer is it seems like after Tuesday night, New York is going to play a very important role in making sure that Republicans have the majority in Congress," Congressman-elect D'Esposito told Patch.
