Life's Little Things

Do you wonder how to get past these TV days of division, strife, madness, and sadness? Or our personal backpacks of torment?

As you know, I’m always biking the boards or trekking the sands looking for whales or good stories. I still do.

And I did find a good photo essay on our boards. But as spring pulls me away from my computer, I need to adjust my essay output and focus on the little things in life.

These little things make life worth living; they energize.

There’s so much joy in life around us. But you’d never know it by the TV noise.

There’s also a lot of personal noise we carry with us: obligations, anxieties, and regrets.

Our jobs: the stress, the boredom, advancement—or the insecurity.

Personal connections: love life, family, children, and the future.

Our past: all the what ifs or if onlys.

It’s as if we have our personal backpacks filled with them. Backpacks held firm with velcro straps.

I think we get so used to them that we’d miss them if they were gone. But they hurt our daily enjoyment of life.

Can we put them down?

We must slip the bonds of our noisy backpacks when walking on our shore. Put them down for just a while so they don’t drown out the wonder of Life’s Little Things.
