Long Beach Children's Surfing Contest Comes To Beach On Sunday

The annual "King and Queen of the Beach" competition is open to children 15 years old and younger.

LONG BEACH, NY — It's time for the annual surfing contest in Long Beach. The "King and Queen of the Beach" give kids a chance to ride the waves.

The Long Beach Recreation Department and Skudin Surf will hold the competition on Sunday, Sept. 12, the city of Long Beach said on its website.

It is scheduled to take place on the beach between Riverside and Long Beach boulevards. It is being held in memory of Brian Ward and Danny Bobis.

Registration, for anyone 15 years old and under, is set for 7 a.m.

The top 3 boys and girls surfers will be recognized in Super Groms (8 and under), Groms (9-11) and Juniors (12-15).
