Long Beach HS Students Competes For National Merit Honor Scholarship

LONG BEACH, NY — A senior at Long Beach High School is a semifinalist for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Samuel Adler is among 16,000 students chosen from an expected 1.3 million who entered the academic competition.

A semi-finalist represents the top 1% of high school students nationally and the highest-scoring entrants from each state.

Adler has a chance for the coveted scholarship, which will be offered next spring. As a junior Adler, and thousands of others, took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

He'll move forward with a scholarship application including his academic record, community activities, leadership experience, and employment. Alder will also need to write a compelling essay.
