Long Beach Readies For Stormy Night, Heavy Rain And Up To 50 MPH Winds

Nassau's South Shore has a coastal flood advisory in effect Monday night

LONG BEACH, NY — The combination of heavy rain and powerful winds is likely to bear down on Long Island. Like most times, Long Beach is a particularly vulnerable spot for damage.

Monday night through the early hours of Tuesday are expected to be the worse with winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour along the coast.

"Please be sure to secure or bring in any loose outdoor objects and, if possible, wait until the morning to place your garbage curbside," a spokesperson for the city of Long Beach said.

A wind advisory for the entire island is in effect from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m Tues.

Long Beach and other parts of Southern Nassau County are in coastal flood advisory from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. Tuesday.
