Long Beach Student Wins Pair Of Awards

LONG BEACH, NY — A Long Beach High School senior is an award winner. Uma Arengo was honored at the Charles Duggan Long Island Science and Engineering Fair.

Arengo earned a second place Grand Award and took home a special Mu Alpha Theta award for her process in mathematics, Long Beach Public Schools posted to its website.

Her project, "Using Box-Counting Dimension to Quantify the Progressive Stages of Diabetic Retinopathy," was also submitted in the "Math, Physics and Astronomy" category.
