Long Beach Varsity Hockey Tops In Nassau County
The team defeats Bellmore-Merrick and win the tournament. The boys volleyball team moves on to the county finals.
LONG BEACH, NY — The Long Beach varsity hockey squad won the Nassau County championship. They defeated Bellmore-Merrick, 2-1.
After a scoreless first period, Long Beach scored its two goals in the middle period to secure victory. Senior Hunter Honan got Long Beach on the board. He added a pivotal assist in what proved to be the game-winning goal a short time later by Jack Gannon.
The tournament was held Friday at Northwell Ice Rink in Eisenhower Park.

There was more sports excitement in Long Beach: the boys' volleyball team scored a five-game nail-biter, eliminating Port Washington Sunday as they advance to the Nassau County finals.
