Long Beach's Annual Charity Volleyball Event Held For Cancer

LONG BEACH, NY — The Michelle O'Neill Foundation held its annual volleyball charity event over the weekend in Long Beach.

The organization is named after a woman, who lived in Queens and Long Beach. O'Neill was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was 17 and died at age 24.

The foundation raises money for children with cancer and special needs.

The pre-pandemic 2019 event had several thousand players, News 12 said.

As the Michelle O'Neill Foundation website said, they help families alleviate "economic and emotional stresses associated with caring for a child with a catastrophic illness."
