Long Beach's Walsh Plays 'No Favorites' As City Manager, Top Cop
Ronald Walsh replaced Donna Gayden as city manager on Jan. 3.
LONG BEACH, NY — Acting Long Beach City Manager Ronald Walsh, who is also the Police Commissioner, officially introduced himself at Tuesday's council meeting.
He replaced Donna Gayden as city manager at the Jan. 3 meeting.
"I'm not taking this job to keep my finger in the dyke," Walsh said. "I have an aggressive personality when it comes to doing things that make a difference and make the world a better place."

Walsh said he works for every single person in Long Beach.
"I have no favorites, but every one of you [has] a friend in government," Walsh said.

Walsh, who joined the Long Beach Police Department in 2020 after many years serving in the NYPD, said he'll have a hand in selecting the permanent city manager.
