Long Island Weather: Bad News For Snow Lovers

The only snow Long Island is likely to get this week will be mixed with sleet and rain, and then quickly washed away, forecasts predict.

LONG ISLAND, NY — If you were looking forward to enjoying some snow this week, it seems Mother Nature has other plans. After early forecasts showed the possibility of two snow storms this week, the National Weather Service is predicting only one bout of snowfall, and it won't be very much.

Long Island is looking like it will get some snow on Tuesday and into early Wednesday, but it will be mixed with rain and sleet to create a real miserable wintry mix. Forecasts predict accumulation of less than an inch and probably switching to all rain by the end of the storm.

Anything that does stick will likely be washed away by Wednesday, which could have some light rain in the morning.

The rest of the week is looking chilly but clear. There's a low chance of some more snow on Sunday, but it wouldn't be anything major.
