LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island will likely see some nasty weather Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook:

A potent cold front may bring heavy rain and windy conditions from Thursday night into Friday morning. The combination of snow pack and heavy rain may bring flooding, with the highest potential across northeast New Jersey, the Lower Hudson Valley, and southern Connecticut. The highest winds will occur along coastal areas, such as Long Island, New York City, and coastal Connecticut. Strong to potentially damaging winds are possible. However, there is a fair amount of uncertainty in both rain amounts and how strong winds will be.

Snow will almost certainly still be on the ground Christmas Day and we could even see some fresh snow after noon on Friday. No accumulation is expected.
