Officer Hospitalized Arresting Burglary Suspect In Nassau: Police

Malik Hodge faces charges that include assault and criminal mischief, police said.

ISLAND PARK, NY — A burglary arrest in Island Park led to an officer suffering injuries, police said.

A residence was burglarized Monday morning on Kildare Road and a short time later police spotted Malik Hodge, 28, of Far Rockaway, on Long Beach Road and Carolina Avenue, authorities said.

While attempting to place Hodge into custody, he got violent. One officer was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Hodge was also brought to an area hospital.

He is charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Hodge was scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday.
