Propel NY Energy Open Houses Continue on Long Island

NYPA and New York Transco are collaborating with Propel NY on a major electric transmission project, the biggest advance in nearly 50 years.

The New York Power Authority (NYPA) and New York Transco are collaborating to advance Propel NY Energy (Propel NY), one of the most extensive electric transmission projects in nearly a half century. This innovative project proposed across parts of Long Island, New York City and Westchester County and will improve reliability, resiliency, and delivery of clean energy through electric grid improvements.

Prior to construction, which is expected to begin in mid-2026, the project is conducting a series of stakeholder and public engagement activities throughout the 90-mile route. This includes hosting seventeen Community Open Houses in locations along the route in May and June. These events offer an in-depth look at the project from the route to construction techniques to community outreach efforts plus more and provide an open and direct forum for community members to ask questions and share feedback.
