Restroom Installation To Cause Boardwalk Closure, Traffic Changes

The City of Long Beach will be working near New York Avenue on Wednesday, and sections of the boardwalk will be closed as a result.

LONG BEACH, NY — The City of Long Beach is installing new bathrooms at the beach, and the installation process will create some traffic delays this week.

The city will be installing the new comfort station at New York Avenue on Wednesday. To facilitate the work, there will be road closures and diversions for most of the day.

  • The Boardwalk will be closed West of Grand Blvd; the Grand Blvd ramp will be open.
  • The Boardwalk ramp at New York Avenue will be closed to the public.
  • The ticket booths will be closed at New York Avenue both Boardwalk and Street entrances.
  • Local Traffic only on New York Avenue, south of Broadway.
  • Only the West side of New York Avenue will be open for pedestrian traffic.

A comfort station is scheduled to be installed at Neptune Boulevard next week, and will cause similar disruptions.
