Short Play Festival Comes To Long Beach This Month

LONG BEACH, NY — The arts will shine at the Long Beach Short Play Festival.

It takes place the weekend of Sept. 30 at the Long Beach Public Library.

The festival features 14 original plays chosen from more than 100 submissions. Each play was juried on a rated scale by a panel of writers, directors and actors.

Nassau County's new Poet Laureate, Long Beach resident Paula Cursi will be a special guest, reciting original works between shows.

The winning pieces will be performed in two programs over three days. There will also be a 30-minute panel discussion and Q&A on Oct. 1 at 4 p.m.

The festival was created, in part, to assist new playwrights in getting their talents seen and shared with local audiences.

Tickets are free, but you can reserve seating on the library's website.
