Standing up—for Just One Person

So many stories on our Long Beach shore; each can touch many of us. I came upon a man who simply want's to reach—just one person

By now you’re expecting me to tell you about one of your Long Beach neighbors; I won’t disappoint this time either.

This man I know had an unusual career, in my experience anyway. He was a stand-up comic for twenty years. He liked to make people laugh, to at least put a smile on their faces.

It takes a lot of brass to stand up before an audience and give it your best shot. You’re so vulnerable; there can be silence in response to your work, “crickets” it’s called, or worse hecklers. Those brave enough to work at this night after night have my deep admiration.

But this man is standing up today, not for laughs but to once again put a smile on a face or two; a smile of gratitude for the help he might give them.

He’s been through the trials of life recently, trials of Stage Four cancer, but he’s learned a lot from them. He’s learned things many of you, or your loved ones, are unaware.

Passing learned experience on to others goes back eons, of course. But today, it still strengthens the fabric of humankind.

So he’s calling up his brass, his bravery, once again; he's Standing up—for Just One Person.

Be well,
Leebythesea
