Synagogue Plans Special Juneteenth Shabbat Service

The celebratory program takes place on June 17.

LONG BEACH, NY — Temple Emanu-El is planning a special Shabbat service. The Long Beach synagogue will hold an inclusive Juneteenth Shabbat on June 17.

Rabbi Jack Zanerhaft will oversee the annual ceremony that features Long Beach City Manager Donna Grayson as a guest speaker.

Refreshments and entertainment will also be part of the holiday program.

As the flyer indicates, Juneteenth Shabbat will bring congregants and guests together for "a service and musical celebration of freedom, joy and liberation."

It is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
