POINT LOOKOUT, NY — Coney Island isn't the only place to find a hot dog eating contest this summer. The Town of Hempstead is debuting its own competition with the holiday food favorite.

Sponsored by famed frankfurter company Sabrett, the Hempstead Town Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place as part of the annual Salute to Veterans Concert & Fireworks show.

While Nathan's Fourth of July contest will not have hot dog eating legend Joey Chestnut, the town is inviting him to their inaugural event on Saturday, June 29.

Plus, you can expect plenty of vendors, food trucks, a concert and fireworks to get the early celebration going for Independence Day.
