Long Island Man Dies When Tree Falls On Car During Family Vacation

The FDNY firefighter and father of two would have been 46 on Sunday.

LONG BEACH, NY — An FDNY firefighter and Long Beach resident died during a vacation in North Carolina on Friday afternoon.

Casey Skudin, who have been 46 on Father's Day, was killed when a tree limb fell on the car at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, Skudin's wife Angela wrote on Instagram.

Angela Skudin, who owns the Codfish Cowboy boutique in Long Beach, was also in the vehicle when the freak accident happened.

Their two children were also in the car, with 10-year-old CJ suffering fractures in his back, she wrote.

Skudin, a 16-year member of the department, was assigned to Ladder 137 in the Rockaways, Newsday reported.

"We will all be healing for eternity," Angela Skudin posted.

As part of the posting on Friday, she showed a photo with her husband taken just 2 1/2 hours before his tragic death: "I didn't realize it would be our last photo together."

Cliff Skudin, who runs Long Beach's Skudin Surf school, is the victim's cousin.

"I'm completely numb and heartbroken," she wrote on her personal Instagram account.
