Nassau Man Indicted After Teen Killed By Car: Prosecutors

​Mactyme Michel faces criminally negligent homicide in connection to the death of Gerrin Hagen, who was from Long Beach, the Nassau DA said.

MINEOLA, NY — A Valley Stream man has been arraigned in connection to striking and killing a teenager with his car, prosecutors said.

Mactyme Michel, 19, was charged on Monday with one count of criminally negligent homicide. He pleaded not guilty and was released to pretrial services.

"Gerrin Hagen’s life was tragically cut short when this defendant allegedly ran through a stop sign and struck the young man, who was riding on a skateboard," Nassau County DA Anne Donnelly said. "Hagen was a talented ice hockey and lacrosse player who was beloved by the entire Long Beach community.

In January, the 18-year-old Hagen was skateboarding on Cantiague Lane in Westbury when Michel allegedly struck him.

Michel is due back in court on August 21. If convicted, the defendant faces up to 1-1/3 to 4 years in prison.
