Nassau Man Seeking Ambulance Assaults Paramedic: Police

ELMONT, NY — An Elmont man was arrested on Friday for assaulting a police paramedic, police said.

Joseph Reid, 29, who requested an ambulance, became irate and charged at the paramedic, police said.

Reid pushed the paramedic through a door and onto a porch outside, police said.

The paramedic suffered an injury to his left shoulder. Both Reid and the paramedic were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Reid is charged with second-degree assault and will be arraigned when medically practical, police said.
