1 Critically Injured In Nassau Crash

Police say a car was hit as it was turning into a parking lot, critically injuring one of the drivers.

MASSAPEQUA, NY — Two people were injured, one critically, in a car crash in Massapequa Friday morning, Nassau County police said.

According to police, a 76-year-old man driving a 2019 Mazda SUV was heading east on Merrick Road around 9:10 a.m. The driver was turning left into the parking lot of Lidl, located at 5601 Merrick Road, when he was hit by a 2022 Dodge Ram being driven by a 29-year-old man, which was heading west.

Both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital. The 76-year-old is in critical condition, and the 29-year-old had minor injuries.

Police say no criminality is suspected at this time, but both cars were impounded for brake and safety checks. The investigation is ongoing.
