A Best

Seller

Of course, the major obstacle to writing a guide book for old age would be the author’s longevity.

And obviously, that would be an insurmountable problem.

Yet my imagination is inclined to believe such a volume could be, not only a best seller, but a distinct service to everyone blessed to grow old bones.

If I were to be invited to contribute, my first suggestion would be an acknowledgment that past mistakes are not simply yours to claim.

To quote “It takes two to tango,” and also, two to dissent.

Peace is always available, both to give and receive.

And sadly, often it is neither accepted nor extended.

If so, accept the reality and move forward for whatever time God grants.

Then, I would definitely look for a chapter about restoring self confidence.

Medical experts constantly warn about the subtle loss of elder’s flexibility and/or strength.

While I agree, I also adamantly believe the very first indication of aging is a loss of belief in oneself.

The questioning begins earlier than recognized, and methodically erases layers of confidence that took decades of living to instill.

Perhaps it is merely a reflection of how the older generation in their limited world is perceived by others.

Yet their negative perception of ability quickly becomes insidious and immediately destroys self confidence.

Ah yes that would be number two if I were young enough to write a guide to old age, and old enough to have the necessary wisdom to share.

I would also strongly advise that any recitation of symptoms, both yours and others be avoided in routine conversations, The topic becomes toxic and wipes out any remaining tranquility of existence. It is not unkind to avoid it with passion, and share only with medical personnel.

However never relinquish the firm belief that when the time comes to say adieu, it will arrive with the quality of an April rain and wash away all fear.

But since I have neither youth nor wisdom, I hope there is someone in the vast unknown who will make this contribution to all who were and will be blessed not to die young.

The book would definitely make the best seller list, and I would certainly purchase one if I were still ar0und.
