Droughtful?

Three weeks into Lent has hopefully re-aligned us by faithfully absorbing John the Baptist's, "A voice of one crying out in the desert: Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths," in Mark 3: 4.

This Bible quote was prophetically foretold in Isaiah 40:3 and hummed with Divine precision throughout the centuries before it was explicitly executed by its ordained person in the Gospels.

It is a call to order to pay attention and discern your individual situation and relationship with God, to encourage a conversion of heart and Soul.

Although it does not necessarily require moving mountains, mandating a recourse and clearing ineffective laden debris on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels will be a step.

The three traditional pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, address each of our specific ailing states of being with the consummate dovetailing necessary to foster our partnership with God and our community.

Most of us are dangerously steeped in over-doing and out-performing to the brink of exhaustion and despair.

Since all of these maneuvers and enterprising efforts have not resolved or remediated persistent foibles or deficiencies, how about considering silence, stillness, and prayer?

This need not be an ostentatious overture as the Almighty admonished against such superficialities, and a few minutes with the Lord can be refreshing, calming, and unburdening.

Doesn't that sound too good to pass up?

Add some fasting and abstaining to posture your stability and to comprehend and appreciate that you are nothing without Him.

As the Source and Sustainer of all animation and life, our deeply dependent reliance upon that immutable truth becomes irreproachable and therefore the cornerstone of our cherished existence.

Take up your Cross and along with fasting from food, refrain from gossiping, toxic people, engaging in too much screen time, and souring your spirited Soul with unwarranted limiting beliefs, which only broaden the divide between you and the Holy One.

Next, figure out how you can be of service to another, and remember to pray incessantly to strengthen your God muscle to ensure fulfillment of His All-Knowing will.

With three more weeks to go, how will you progress?

Lent is an ongoing process not a point in time, and like any transformation necessitates patience and fortitude.

Stay in motion with focused intention and get creative with almsgiving.

And if you should thirst along the way, ask the only One who can quench it.

Jesus sees you and knows you.

Come and get your fill.
~ "Jesus answered and said to her, 'Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life,'" John 4:13-14.
