LONG ISLAND, NY — Heavy rains across the region have placed all of Long Island under a flood watch today, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service says that all of Long Island is under a flood watch until 5 p.m. tonight. The rain today, which could be heavy at times, may cause rivers and streams to swell, and could also cause flooding in other low-lying, flood-prone areas.

One to three more inches of rain is expected to fall today, and it could be higher in some areas.
