LONG ISLAND, NY — The remnants of Hurricane Ian will continue to bring gloomy weather to Long Island for the next few days, and also the possibility of flooding along the South Shore.

According to the National Weather Service, there are two coastal flood advisories in effect, from 1 to 7 p.m. today and 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, for all of the South Shore of Nassau County and southwestern Suffolk. The NWS said that there could be up to a half-foot of inundation possible during the high tides.

"Widespread minor to locally moderate flooding of vulnerable areas is expected near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront," the advisory said. "Several to numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays. Brief and localized minor flooding possible during the a.m. high tides."
