Skies will be clear for most of the weekend, but possible coastal flooding and a rainy Sunday could ruin weekend plans.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The weather for most of this weekend will be sunny and mild across Long Island, though people on the South Shore of Nassau County will have to watch out for minor flooding Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a coastal flood statement for southern Nassau County. Up to six inches of flooding is possible at vulnerable areas along the shore and waterfront, the service said. It's also possible there could be flooding during the high tide on Sunday morning.

But the rest of the weekend looks pretty good. Skies will be clear for Saturday and Sunday morning, with temperatures in the low-to-mid 40s.
