LONG ISLAND, NY — Thunderstorms and high winds are possible Thursday and Friday, the National Weather Service said, before temperatures plummet 15 degrees this weekend.

Long Islanders can expect warm and wet weather Thursday and Friday, with high temperatures in the low 50s. A thunderstorm is possible Thursday night, and the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for possible strong winds along with it. Winds could gust 45 to 50 miles per hour, the service said.

Friday is looking much the same, with another thunderstorm possible in the morning. The rain will continue through most of the day, but taper off into the night.
