LI Weather: On-And-Off Rain, Unseasonably Warm

LONG ISLAND, NY — After some clear weather, rain returns to the forecast for Long Island, although temperatures will remain relatively mild.

Rain is in the forecast on and off this week, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is possible Tuesday, and nearly certain to come Thursday.

Days of sunshine will break up the rain. Wednesday looks to be the warmest day this week, with a high around 51. The rest of the week will also be mild, with highs in the mid-40s.

After Thursday's rain, clear skies will return and continue through the weekend.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 45. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers before 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 41. West wind around 8 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind 9 to 14 mph.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 36. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Thursday: Rain. High near 45. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Rain before 1 a.m. Low around 39. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.
